We represent all pharmacy contractors in Derbyshire (City and County). Amongst our many roles at present our priority is to ensure that with all the changes in NHS structure, commissioners are aware of community pharmacy and the services we can provide. Our Chief Officer, Chair, Operation’s Team and committee members attend various meetings to promote our profession across the system.

NHS updates EPS nomination standards

NHS England has updated its national standards on how pharmacy teams and IT system suppliers process nominations. This follows renewed scrutiny of nomination practices and reinforces the principle that patients must be able to set or change their nomination freely, without pressure or unwanted intervention.

CPPE Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway

Applications for the Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway are now open. Please see link for more information. This is for Pharmacists who are independent prescribers (IP) at the point of registration, working in any sector, provided they are delivering NHS services.

NEW RESOURCES to raise awareness of urinary tract infections (UTIs)

To support healthcare and social care organisations in promoting UTI awareness, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and NHS England have developed a communications toolkit for UTI prevention and awareness in older adults. The toolkit provides key messages, educational resources, and ready-to-use social media assets aimed at people aged 65 and over, as well as those in their support networks. Designed for use in GP practices, pharmacies, care homes, and community settings, the materials focus on UTI prevention and recognising potential UTI symptoms. New for this year, the toolkit includes: A short UTI prevention awareness video for waiting room screens – (this is entitled ‘digital screen in the assets list) A UTI prevention poster and UTI symptom poster translated into 13 additional languages.

"Pharmacy First Derbyshire" webpage

Community Pharmacy Derbyshire has developed it's own webpage to support patients in access Pharmacy First Services. Patients can access the page at the link below or by scanning the QR code. The webpage explains all about the 7 clinical pathways and provides links to enable patients to find their local pharmacy providing the service. The page will be developed soon to include minor illness, urgent supply, contraception and hypertension case finding services.
